TITTY DICK EXPLOSION FORCE
Q&A WITH ALEX SHIFMAN
1. Where did the inspiration for this video come from?
I actually got the idea for TDEF during an mvl meeting. We were talking about viral videos and how a video goes viral and one gets clicks and I started thinking about a video with the most perfect click bait title ever. Sex + violence seemed to do the trick. 2. What were your film making challenges? Whenever I do a project that's this weird I have two challenges; realizing the weirdness that my dumb dumb brain has thunk up, and sticking to the script. TDEF and everything I've gotten to do as a part of MVL is weird, and was even weirder in my brain. How to lift that craziness off the page and into shots that can be edited is a challenge. Then, when those shots contain people I love working with, my comedy friends like Nathaniel Moore ( my besti and partner in crime. check us out as A+N on Facebook.) and Jane Kehoe ( who's the best), my MVL friends ( almost all of them were in this thing and were too damn funny) and even my college friends ( thanks Wells and Andy), you start having a really good time and want to let those geniuses play a bit. 3. How did the Magnet Video Lab help you grow as an artist from Season 1 to Season 2? MVL has really helped my let loose and make things a lot of people might not like. For me there's always been an urge to people please with comedy, but MVL ( and that weirdo Jim Turner especially) have inspired me to experiment with the things that make me laugh right now. 4. What's next? I honestly have no clue what's next but I hope it's just as much fun as the last two. 5. Any last thoughts? I really wanted to take an extra opportunity to make sure Annie Quick gets her due from me. She beyond kicks ass. She made every costume for the TDEF crew. She's really amazing and the stuff she can do on almost any budget is crazy. And she's welcoming and funny and nice. And so is Dan, and Ruby; and Joe's amazing, and Shalini rocks. |
