Q&A WITH DIRECTOR JIM TURNER
1. What is your background in sketch/comedy/film?
It all started in junior high, when my mom brought home an S-VHS camera for my friends and I to play around with. I've been making videos ever since, which has led to a career in film and video. I moved to New York eight years ago, and have been directing and producing comedy music videos, shorts, and web series ever since. 2. Tell us about some of the challenges of making your film. Well, locations were a big problem. It was ridiculously expensive to fly out to these remote, third world countries just to take some pictures and then head back home. I'm kidding! There weren't any big challenges - it was actually pretty easy since we shot all the green screen stuff in my living room. 3. What would you do differently if you were to make this film again? I'd shoot more footage, and try to add some more jokes throughout. 4. What's next for you? What's your next film project going to look like? ight now, I'm doing post production work on a music video for the band Kotorino. I'm developing some new comedy videos and writing new projects. My next Video Lab project will probably have an old time-y, 1900's look, and deal with my favorite scientist's quest for vengeance. 5. Tell us about the Magnet Video lab and its role in making this film happen The video lab helped me with workshopping the script, and pushing me to finish the video. I was also inspired by members' ideas and their scripts -- there's something invigorating about collaborating with other creators and bouncing ideas off each other. |
